The Joe Grattan Memorial Coaching Award was established to recognize coaches in our Hislop division who exemplify Joe’s love of and knowledge of the game, and who work tirelessly with the players to improve their knowledge of skills and strategy. Joe was an “old school” coach – he didn’t have much patience for those who goofed off or didn’t follow directions or do what they were told but he gave his heart and soul to players, no matter their talent, who loved playing the game as much as he loved the game. We give this award to a deserving coach every year who exemplifies Joe in his approach to coaching.

Sportsmanship Awards: At the end of every season, Portsmouth Little League recognizes three (3) players (one from each division) for their exceptional sportsmanship on the baseball field by giving them the "Little League Baseball Good Sport Award." This award is given to the player in each of our divisions who best exemplifies the purpose of Little League baseball as stated in the Little League Pledge and by Little League's motto - "Character, Courage, Loyalty."
Managers in each division nominate players of their own or from another team, and the submissions are reviewed by the PLL board and ultimately voted on and selected.
